Morning Arrival at School
Please review the following questions as a family and with your child before departing for the school.
The purpose of the protocols listed below is to decrease the risk of individuals infected with COVID-19 from entering the school building.
THE DAILY HEALTH CHECK
Students who answer “yes” to any of the above questions or have a temperature greater than or equal to 100.4℉ may not come into the school. The parent/caregiver should be instructed to call the student’s Primary Healthcare Provider for further guidance. We do not want to exclude students; however, the daily check is the first important step.
Note: Students with a confirmed diagnosis and a medical treatment plan for well controlled asthma or environmental allergies, who do not have a temperature, may attend school with some expected mild coughing and clear nasal discharge. Please contact our School Nurse, Laura Perras, to discuss and document pre-existing conditions. Documentation from your student’s doctor should accompany this school documentation.
Upon Arrival to School Grounds
Each student will have their temperature taken with a non-contact thermometer at designated entry locations. We will not have our usual open recess before school.
Car arrivals will now begin at 7:30 to allow for a longer drop-off time with an increase of car transportation. To the extent possible, please arrive early.
Drivers dropping off students should proceed to the normal parent drop off loop. Please pull all the way around the drop-off loop to the next available greeter. Students should not exit the vehicle until a greeter comes to the car door and briefly conducts a visual/verbal health check. We will not be taking temperatures in the car. All passengers in the car (over the age of 2) must have masks on before the greeter opens the car door. Students must be able to exit the car on the right hand side (curbside) of the vehicle. Adjust car seats and seating in the car appropriately. For safety reasons, we will not be able to come around to the inside of the traffic loop to help students exit the vehicle.
Those needing to get out of the car with their student will need to park in the parking lot and proceed to the health check station. Please do not get out of the car if you are using the drop-off loop.We acknowledge that parent traffic will increase significantly and ask for your patience when dropping off and picking up your child.
Walkers/Bikers will NOT have a special walk up area on the greentop. Students will place their bikes in the bike racks in the school yard and proceed to their entry doors based on grade level (see below). Walkers will proceed to their entry doors based on grade level (see below). Walkers and bikers will receive their temperature checks at the entry door.
Seating on buses will distance students as much as possible. Students will wear masks while being screened and riding the bus. Students and adults at the bus stop are required to wear a cloth face mask and/or practice physical distancing. A parent/caregiver is required to be at the bus stop to wait with their student. You may choose to designate another adult to assume the care of your student at the bus stop and take the student home if the student does not pass the Daily Health Check or the temperature check.
When the bus pulls up, the adult monitor will greet students outside the bus door and conduct the verbal health screening and temperature check before the student enters the bus. Students will maintain a six-foot separation from one another as they approach the bus.
Upon arrival at school, bus riders will proceed to their entry doors based on grade level (see below) but will receive an additional temperature check when entering the building.
Buses will continue to use the bus loop for their drop off and pick ups.
