RAY SCHOOL PTO 2004-2005 Accomplishments

  1. Planned and hosted Newcomers Social for newcomers prior to opening of school (Aug 15).
  2. Held 5 PTO meetings, alternating between afternoon and evening; provided free child care, and held 7 PTO Board meetings.
  3. Revised committee and event chairperson guidelines (Aug).
  4. Co-sponsored Fall Open House before school started; provided school bus tours and information regarding bus routes and schedules; distributed student backpack name/bus tags (Aug 25).
  5. Hosted Welcome Back Luncheon for the staff the day before school started (Aug 26).
  6. Provided volunteer bus monitors on first day of school to assist children with ride into and home from school (Aug 27)
  7. Sent welcome packets to all Ray School families and staff sharing information on the PTO (Aug 29).
  8. Provided refreshments for Schools Attuned Seminars.
  9. Held fall PTO Membership Drive for 2003-04 (resulting in 80% of families joining)
  10. Hosted Newcomers’ Coffee for families new to Hanover and/or Ray School (Sept 16/Feb 13).
  11. Compiled and distributed the Ray School Directory (Oct).
  12. Sponsored Fall Family Fun Picnic & Dance with the Flames (Sept 19).
  13. Provided volunteers on School Photo Day (Oct 24).
  14. Publicized presentation by Joanne Deak, PhD, author of “Girls will be Girls”, with Marion Cross PTO (Nov).
  15. Awarded staff and parent recipients of Fall ($2565.95) and Spring ($1434.05) Gifts intended to enrich students’ Ray School experience through projects or equipment not funded in the school’s operating budget (Oct and March).
  16. Coordinated and hosted Room Parent Coffee (Oct 24).
  17. Wrote and distributed PTO Newsletters to all Ray School families and staff (winter) and spring.
  18. Organized Family Fun Storytime evening of literacy-based fun; featured staff story tellers and guest readers, organized refreshments and book donations to The Haven (Nov 15).
  19. Provided staff with note of thanks and treats at Thanksgiving (Nov 26).
  20. Hosted Holiday Coffee before Students’ Holiday Concert and Clearance Sale (Dec 18 &19).
  21. Provided Valentine Treats for all staff (Feb 13).
  22. Sponsored purchase of mini-art prints and books for circulation through the Ray School Library (Feb).
  23. Funded and created the A.R.T. (Art at Ray Together) Rousseau (Feb); trained 5 th grade student docents to provide tours of exhibit to other students.
  24. Co-sponsored with Hanover Recreation Department March Madness Family Fun Night featuring refreshments, games and entertainer(Mar 26).
  25. Sponsored Make-A-Plate, 2-day after school art activity for children (Mar 11/12).
  26. Provided refreshments and information at 2004-05 Kindergarten parents information night (Apr 1)
  27. Assisted with 2004-05 kindergarten registration and classroom tours; provided refreshments and information; made and distributed Ray K buttons to incoming Kindergarteners (Apr 2).
  28. Sponsored TV Turn Off Week including: distributed informational packet to parents and organized variety of alternative activities for children/parents to try throughout the week (see*below).

  38. Disseminated information to all families to attend Hanover annual meeting and to vote on budget (March); vote on athletic fields (April).
  39. Commmunicated with incoming 2003-04 Kindergarten families via welcome letter with PTO membership information (May).
  40. Coordinated and hosted informational meeting for current 5 th grade parents regarding transitioning to Richmond middle school (June)
  41. Compiled and distributed 5 th grade memory book (mid-June)
  42. Purchased over 200 books for Library in honor of students’ birthdays through Birthday Book Club (throughout the year).
  43. Connected families new to Ray School and Hanover with host families (throughout the year).
  44. Updated and maintained Ray School Photo Tree (throughout the year).
  45. Provided opportunities for families and staff to inexpensively purchase helmets for ski/snowboard and bicycle/skateboard, booster seats, disaster relief books, and various software packages used at school (throughout the year).
  46. Maintained resource file in library of interesting parenting/educational articles and PTO documents (throughout the year).
  47. Developed PTO link from Ray School web page (throughout the year).
  48. Organized monthly Out and About Community Service Projects (Sept –June).
  49. Sponsored Schools Attuned program on Attention (April 15).
