RAY SCHOOL PTO 2006-2007 Accomplishments
- Held 4 PTO meetings, alternating between afternoon and evening; provided free child care, and held 10 PTO Board meetings.
- Co-sponsored Open House before school started; provided school bus tours and information regarding bus routes and schedules; distributed student backpack name/bus tags.
- Hosted Welcome Back Luncheon for the staff the day before school started.
- Provided volunteer bus monitors on first day of school to assist children with ride into and home from school.
- Sent welcome packets to all Ray School families and staff sharing information on the PTO the Friday after school started.
- Held fall PTO Membership Drive for 2006-07 (resulting in 74% of families, 30% of staff, and 85% teachers joining).
- Hosted Newcomers’ Coffee for families new to Hanover and/or Ray School.
- Compiled and distributed the Ray School Directory before Halloween.
- Sponsored Fall Family Fun Picnic & Dance with the Flames.
- Provided volunteers on School Photo Day.
- Awarded Fall and Spring Gifts intended to enrich students’ Ray School experience through projects or equipment not funded in the school’s operating budget.
- Coordinated and hosted Room Parent Coffee.
- Provided staff with note of thanks and treats at Thanksgiving.
- Hosted Holiday Coffees before Students’ Holiday Concerts.
- Provided Valentine Treats for all staff.
- Funded the A.R.T. (Art at Ray Together) Romare Bearden exhibit; trained 5th grade student docents to provide tours of exhibit to other students.
- Disseminated information to all families to attend Hanover annual meeting and to vote on budget.
- Co-sponsored drug and alcohol 20 questions meeting for families of 5th graders at Richmond middle school.
- Sponsored TV Turn Off Week including: distributed informational packet to parents and organized variety of alternative activities for children/parents to try throughout the week.
- Organized Winter Family Night, an evening of literacy-based fun; featured staff story tellers and guest readers, organized refreshments and book donations.
- Sponsored Make-A-Plate, 2-day after school art activity for children.
- Provided refreshments and information at 2007-08 Kindergarten parents information night.
- Assisted with 2007-08 kindergarten registration and classroom tours; provided refreshments and information; made and distributed Ray K buttons to incoming Kindergarteners.
- Celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week by providing breakfast for staff.
- Sponsored Spring Picnic and Dance with the Flames.
- Coordinated and hosted informational meeting for current 5th grade parents regarding transitioning to Richmond middle school.
- Compiled and distributed 5th grade memory book.
- Purchased over 200 books for Library in honor of students’ birthdays through Birthday Book Club throughout the year.
- Connected families new to Ray School and Hanover with host families.
- Provided opportunities for families and staff to inexpensively purchase helmets for ski/snowboard and bicycle/skateboard, booster seats, disaster relief books, and various software packages used at school.
- First full year of Haven Helper Program. Collected more than 70 bins of food, and 10 bins of clothing and school supplies for the Upper Valley Haven.
- Started email list for PTO and school events, and also a School Board email list.
