Social Thinking Workshop
Our final Social Thinking workshop will be Thursday, May 8th from 3-4
in the Ray School Library. Whether you've attended our previous
sessions or not, please come to learn and discuss ways to foster social
cognition at home and school.
Musical Notes
Yesterday morning, Ray School students were treated to a fabulous
concert by the Loboc Children's Choir who are from the
Philippines. If you're interested in hearing this masterful group
of children sing, there is a public concert this evening at 8:00 at
Rollins Chapel. There may be a small fee for the benefit of the
choir. Enjoy!
From Ray Cafe
It is time once again to check your child’s lunch account
balance. He/she should be bringing home reminders if a balance is
due. Take a look through backpacks on a regular basis as we get
closer to the end of the school year. Payment can be made by attaching
a check, made out to the Hanover School District, to a deposit form
that can be found outside the Ray Cafe and dropping it in the drop box
provided.
Ray School Earth Week
Thanks to all the parent volunteers who helped with the walk-to-school
day which was the kick off event for Earth Week at the Ray School, last
week. More than 170 adults and students walked from the Dartmouth
Green to school and over 50 parents and students walked along Rip
Rd. Walking to school is not a possibility for everyone, but
maybe there are other times in a day, when walking or using public
transportation is a good option. During the week, the students
also talked about ways to conserve energy, for example, by turning off
lights and computers when not in use. On Friday, the students
filled a world map with their "Turn on your brain ideas!", something
each child learned during the week to make a difference. When you visit
the Ray School, take a moment to look at the resulting map which is on
the wall in the front hallway. Thanks for all your help.
A History In The Making
Thanks for the response to the Ray School History project, which will
be presented in both CD and hardcopy form for now, with plans of later

Local Activities
Alisa Brisson, one of our Ray School parents, has decided to embark on
a PENNIES FOR PEACE fundraiser throughout the Upper Valley. As
reported on their website “Pennies for Peace educates American children
about the world beyond their experience and shows them that they can
make a positive impact on a global scale, one penny at a time. Our best
hope for a peaceful and prosperous world lies in the education of all
the world’s children. Through cross-cultural understanding and a
solution-oriented approach, Pennies for Peace encourages American
children, ultimately our future leaders, to be active participants in
the creation of global peace.” Please visit penniesforpeace.org,
to access an abundance of information about this project.
Donation jars will be placed in schools and businesses in the area and
will be picked up next month and sent to Pennies For Peace. If
you have read Three Cups of Tea, this is an extension of Greg
Mortensen’s work. For those of you who have not had the chance,
this is an excellent read and is well stocked at the Howe
Library. If you are interested in sharing any ideas about this
fundraiser, or have questions about the process, please contact Alisa
directly at 643-6363.
