The Bernice A. Ray School--A History In The Making
Did you ever wonder why there is a wooden bunny in the front hallway, or how the Colonial House came to be, or how many play structures have been built at the school, or how the multi was used before the new gym and music room were built? The Ray School was built in 1971, and much has happened to it and its surroundings since then.  A group of teachers, both from the present and the past, are putting together an oral history of the School, one that will reveal its past, which will in turn enlighten its present and future.  If you or your children have some memories and would like to contribute, please contact Michelle Landry or Debby Franzoni, (First.Last name@rayschool.org).  Or, jot a thought down and send it to the school.  This will become an ongoing project which will be available in the library in a hard copy and on the school web site.

Health Office
DID YOU KNOW???  ......The Ray School has 3 AED’s (Automated External Defibrillators) located in our building.  The 3 AED’s are housed in wall cabinets that are alarmed to ring into the Hanover Fire Department whenever the cabinet door is opened to access the AED.   Anyone that accesses an AED should ALWAYS call 911, regardless of the alarmed cabinet.
      Where are the AED’s located?
        1.  Outside the cafeteria/learning center doors, above the rail for the ramp to the                      Art/Music/Gymnasium classrooms.
        2.   On the right wall just as you enter the doors to the gymnasium foyer/hallway.
        3.   In the third grade pod common area, on the wall near the exit door to the big                 play space.
One other interesting fact you might like to know is that we presently have 82 members of our staff trained in CPR and use of an AED.

Passport to Winter Fun News
The three grand prize winners in the Passport to Winter Fun program have been announced. Ray School third grade student Sarah Lightbody is the winner of the X-Country Ski/Skate 2008-09 season pass from the Dartmouth Outing Club. The student who won the Nano Ipod attends the Grantham Village School and the winner of the snowshoes is from the Barnard School. The Upper Valley Trails Alliance is working to sort and distribute over 850 T-shirts and 350 Polar bears to participants in 20 schools. So, it may be several weeks before our students receive their shirts and any bears they might have won. Thanks for your patience.
